Bio

The Latin Fusion Trio is made up of Suneal Pal, Neil Douglas and Arun Pal who have all been playing for over 25 years. The trio consists of two guitars and percussion which perform a fusion of world music that includes Latin jazz, rumba flamenco, bossa nova, tango, Middle Eastern and popular music.

Suneal Pal, BMus. (Guitar)

Suneal has been playing guitar for 28 years. Suneal graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University obtaining his Bachelor of Music degree (Honors Performance) in classical guitar. His teachers include Terry McKenna, Lynne Gangbar, and Robert Hamilton. He has performed in master classes with John Goulart and world renowned classical guitarist Manuel Barreuco.

He has performed both solo and duet guitar recitals. Suneal also plays electric, acoustic and bass guitar. His performing experience includes playing at weddings, dinner functions, restaurants, Christmas recitals, receptions and church services. Suneal also has ten years experience teaching acoustic, electric, bass and classical guitar.

Neil Douglas, BMus. (Guitar)

Neil has over 33 years of studying and playing experience. He started playing acoustic guitar at the age of 10. His classical guitar teachers have included William Trotter, Tibor Puskas, Lynne Gangbar and Michael Bracken. Neil obtained his Bachelor of Music from Wilfrid Laurier University. Neil has studied flamenco guitar with Miguel de la Bastide, and he has also participated in workshops with Canadian fingerstyle player Don Ross.

Neil has worked as a free lancemusician for over 20 years as a soloist or accompanist. He has played for many weddings and private functions such as company dinners and openings, birthdays, anniversaries and art shows/galleries as well as playing at many fine dining restaurants in southwestern Ontario.

Arun Pal, BMus. (Drums/Percussion)

       Arun is a multi-instrumentalist performer, teacher, composer, producer and recording studio engineer. He has worn many hats in his musical career - the most prominent ones being a professional live and session drummer for dozens of artists. He has recorded and produced over 30 full length released albums. Artists he has worked with include the late Matthew Osborne, bands Snack and Eccodek, Rebecca Campbell, Luke Doucet, Jackie Washington. He has performed on Canada AM and at Ontario Place, Center in the Square, Festival of Friends, Hillside Festival, The River Run Center, in Nashville and at The Canada Summer Games.

       As a percussionist/composer, he has worked with all the major modern dance companies in Canada. He has also had the privilege of opening up for acts such as Moist, The Skydiggers, The Bourbon Tabernacle Choir, The Mahones and Fred Eaglesmith to mention a few.
